Parker Poe Consulting’s Azad Khan has earned the South Carolina Certified Economic Developer (SCCED) designation.
Khan successfully completed the demanding curriculum of the South Carolina Advanced Symposium. The Symposium’s four in-depth sessions covered all facets of Economic Development including Workforce, Marketing, Negotiating and Infrastructure. He received his SCCED pin during the annual meeting of the South Carolina Economic Developers’ Association held May 7-8 in Myrtle Beach.
“Successful completion is based on demonstrated knowledge of the curriculum offered and the ability to translate that knowledge into day-to-day, real-life situations,” said Maceo Nance, Director of Small Business & Rural Development at the South Carolina Department of Commerce. “It is not for the faint of heart.”
The designation means that Khan has completed the highest level of economic development education available in the Palmetto State, added Parker Poe Consulting Principal Mark Simmons. “We’re proud of Azad and his commitment to furthering our firm’s ability to serve the needs of our clients as they seek the best locations for their operations in South Carolina and beyond,” Simmons said.
Khan holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of South Carolina and has completed graduate-level economic development coursework at Georgia Tech in Atlanta and the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. He is a SCEDA member and 2013 graduate of Leadership Columbia.
