Recently for Abbeville County, Parker Poe Consulting (PPC) provided the benchmarking expertise needed to help Creative Economic Development Consulting (EDC) develop a comprehensive strategic plan for the historic, scenic Upstate community.

The Abbeville County Development Board hired the North Carolina firm to craft a comprehensive plan to address the county’s challenges and opportunities.

Despite its ideal location along the Savannah River lakes and an hour each way to Greenville and Augusta, the county found itself in a situation all too common among rural South Carolina-counties. The county sought assistance with identifying and leveraging their resources, and guidance on how to best position themselves for economic development success.  

For our role, we provided a County Organizational Benchmarking report, where we compared and evaluated best practices from economic development organizations across South Carolina.

Our benchmarking report compares exactly how the economic development environment in each of those counties is structured, including funding, leadership, memberships, alliances and program elements.
